Koinobori (Carp-shaped Streamer)

A Koinobori is carp-shaped streamer which is made of cloth and hung on a rope to catch the wind. It is the symbol of strength and hope and displayed in Japan to celebrate boys in a family. The fifth day of May is Boys' Day and the people display Koinoboris to make wishes for happiness of the boys.

I found this couple of Koinobori-shaped porcelain at a shop in Takamatsu City, Kagawa prefecture, during a business trip. - MT

Madeleine,

Long time no see!
Thank you for the compliment.
How is your baby growing? Hope you are not too much involved in him. (grin)

Hello Masanobu,

The baby is growing fine and is really active! Thank you for asking.

Hehe, yes I am very involved, he has got a name and we pray together and always talk about beautiful things. He loves to read about positive antenatal education for me and for him. The books by Dr Taniguchi are so wonderful for us!

Are you excited about going to Brazil? I really wish I could be there but I don't think I will be able to travel until Christmas. I miss my dad and my mum's family as well.

Have a blessed weekend,

Madeleine

Madeleine,

Oh, yes. I'm anxious more than excited because there will be so many things to do to prepare for the occasion. I'm even going to Amazon to explore. Have you ever been there?

Debora,
Thanks for the kind words. Yes, we have a "hinamatsuri" for girls. They display dolls with classical cloths. I drew an efuto with this type of dolls, too. Are you interested?

Hi Masanobu!
Hope you had a lovely weekend.
No I have never been to the Amazon. My dad was there in the late 60's for a couple of months in an educational project. (He is from France).

Where I come from (Belo Horizonte) is about 3,000Km from the Amazon region!

Please remember to bring your camera with you and portrait those fascinating people.
