Ohtsu City also has a traditon of Hikiyama, decorated cars drawn by men when they have Ohtsu Festival in October. I visited Ohtsu Festival Hikiyama Exhibition Hall before going home and made this efuto. - MT

Rev. Masanobu,
What is the meaning of Hikiyama? Is there any particular history behind this parade? After looking some of the details, it seems like a very old tradition, isn´t it?
If my understanding is correct, "hiki" means "drawing" and "yama" stands for the car in the festival. So, "hikiyama" would mean the decorated car for being drawn by men in the festival.
